Filippo
Baroncini
Lidl-Trek had an eye on Filippo Baroncini well before he won the U23 road race at the Leuven World Championships in 2021. In fact, the now 22-year-old Italian had already signed a two-year contract with Lidl-Trek before going out and winning the biggest race of his budding career. Filippo’s talent is evident. He can time trial and he can climb - his big engine suited to one-day races. Ahead of winning the rainbow stripes, Filippo finished 2nd in the U23 European Championships road race, 7th in the time trial, and added a 9th in the U23 World Championships race against the clock. One of the biggest hints of his potential was going against WorldTour pros in Coppa Sabatini and finishing an impressive fourth.
