After five years with Quick-Step Floors, Gianluca Brambilla signed with Trek-Segafredo in 2018. The Italian climber's best results lie in one-day races, and he has accumulated stage wins in the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España, and a third-place finish in Strade Bianche. Gianluca is a veteran of 13 Grand Tours and has completed his home country's race, the Giro d'Italia, seven times. He had the team's backing in a leadership role at the 2018 Giro, but he was diagnosed with pneumonia ahead of Strade Bianche, which kept him off the bike for most of March and impeded his preparation. The Italian climber refound his best form at the end of the 2019 season and was back to his attacking ways in La Vuelta and the autumn Italian classics.
