After five years with Quick-Step Floors, Gianluca Brambilla signed with Trek-Segafredo, joining the team in 2018. The Italian climber’s best results lie in one-day races, and he has accumulated stage wins in the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España and a third-place finish in Strade Bianche. Gianluca has also shown an aptitude for the Grand Tours and has completed the Giro d’Italia six times, wearing the maglia rosa for two stages in 2016, with his best finish a 13th place in 2012. He raced his first Tour de France in 2017 and has finished the Vuelta a España three times. Gianluca had the team's backing in a leadership role at the 2018 Giro, but he was diagnosed with pneumonia ahead of Strade Bianche, which kept him off the bike for most of March and impeded his preparation.
