Jakob Egholm is one of two young Danish prospects joining Trek-Segafredo for the 2021 season. The 22-year-old is a versatile rider who can compete in diverse terrain and support Trek-Segafredo’s leaders as he develops and gains experience racing amongst the world’s elite. Jacob won the 2016 Junior World Championships road race and has spent the last two years with Hagens Berman Axeon, the highly successful Under-23 development team managed by former pro Axel Merckx. He is a strong all-rounder who may find his niche in the Classics.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who gave it?

Everyone has a gift. Cycling is yours - go pursue that dream. You’ve only got one shot. My dad told me that.

What was the biggest obstacle you have overcome?

The transition from being a Junior World Champion to being a U23 cyclist has been difficult. But my love for riding bikes has gotten me through tough periods.

If you could have a dinner party with any 3 people in the world, dead or alive, who would you pick?

Steve Carrell, Andy Samberg and Aziz Ansari. That would be a fun dinner party!
