Jarlinson Pantano started with Trek-Segafredo in 2017, arriving from the IAM Cycling team. He showed talent as an Under-23, finishing third overall in the prestigious Tour de l'Avenir in 2010, but was slow to ripen after turning pro in 2011. It wasn't until 2016 before he won his first professional race, taking victory in the final mountain stage at the Tour de Suisse. He then became the revelation of the 2016 Tour de France, winning stage 15 and twice finishing in second place. Jarlinson is a gifted climber and has the opportunity to lead in the smaller races and go for stage wins in larger ones. In 2018, he won stage five of the Volta a Catalunya, but his season ended early with a diagnosis of toxoplasmosis. His affable demeanor has earned him the nickname País, meaning amigo or friend in Colombia.
