Matteo Moschetti joined Trek-Segafredo as a stagiaire at the end of 2017 and when he began to stockpile victories in 2018 with the U23 Kometa Cycling team - ending with nine for the season - Trek-Segafredo wasted no time in signing him to a contract. Moschetti describes himself as a rouleur with good top speed and would like, above all, to win a big classic. He is still gaining experience against the WorldTour's fastest finishers but proved his potential with a second place in the steep Hatta Dam stage finish at the UAE Tour. Matteo had more than his fair share of crashes resulting in injury in his first year in the WorldTour and missed a good part of the season. He quickly made amends, beginning 2020 with two wins in his first two races at the Challenge Mallorca.
