Matteo Moschetti joined Trek-Segafredo as a stagiaire at the end of 2017 and when he began to stockpile victories in 2018 with the U23 Kometa Cycling team - ending with nine for the season - Trek-Segafredo wasted no time in signing him to a contract. Moschetti describes himself as a rouleur with good top speed and would like, above all, to win a big classic. He is still gaining experience against the WorldTour's fastest finishers but proved his potential with a second place in the steep Hatta Dam stage finish at the UAE Tour. Matteo had more than his fair share of crashes resulting in injury in his first season in the WorldTour, and will hope to have the bad-luck behind him in 2020.
