Austrian Michael Gogl was one of the young talents recruited by Trek-Segafredo in 2017, arriving from the Tinkoff team. Like most Austrians, cycling was not Michael's first choice in sports. It was at the age of 15 when the realization of a professional skiing career was fading that he turned his attention more seriously to his off-season activity – cycling – and found his niche.  Michael, 25, has already completed the Tour de France twice. He is a strong all-rounder and plays a role in a variety of stages and terrains. Although his primary purpose is to support the team leaders, his eighth-place finish in Amstel Gold Race in 2017 shows he can go after his own results when the opportunity arises.
