Peter Stetina is the son of former US National Champion and ’76 and ’80 U.S. Olympian Dale Stetina. A climber like his father, Pete is best when the road goes up. He finished 22nd in his first Grand Tour start, the Giro d'Italia (2011), and returned a year later as critical support in Ryder Hesjedal’s stunning victory. Pete's climbing prowess naturally transformed him into a premier support role in the highest mountains. His 2015 season was halted abruptly with a horrific and nearly career-ending crash at the Vuelta al País Vasco. In 2016, Peter joined Trek-Segafredo, and it wasn't until the Tour of California that he certified he had finally overcome his injury with a thrilling second place finish in the queen stage.
