He’s a new face in Trek-Segafredo for 2022 but a familiar one in the pro peloton. With 14 years of professional experience, Tony Gallopin will step nicely into a captain and mentor role, taking over from Koen de Kort, who ended his competitive career at the end of 2021. Tony previously raced for the Team under the RadioShack banner in 2012 and 2013, so he’s familiar with the Trek family. In his prime years, he was one of the pro peloton’s top puncheurs. Some of his notable wins include Clasica San Sebastian (2013) and a stage of the Tour de France (2014), plus he has also shouldered the coveted yellow leader’s jersey. Tony last tasted victory in 2018, winning a stage at the Vuelta a España and the overall in Etoile de Bessèges. In the past few years, he has battled bad luck, so his homecoming comes with a desire to rediscover his puncheur touch and find victory again.
