Research shows that we [cyclists] drastically overestimate the distance at which we think we are detectable to motorists. Unless we’re actively doing something to increase our detect-ability, we may not be seen at all. The single most important thing you can do to increase your visibility is ride with Daytime Running Lights, on every ride, both day and night.
