Compton wins Pan-Am Championships

Katie Compton adds to her incredible 17'/18' season

The 17’/18′ season has been nothing short of spectacular for Katie Compton. With wins in the States and in Europe, Katie is having one of the best early season campaigns to date. Now, adding to this impressive start is her successful Pan-Am title defense. In her own words,

"The race went great, I rode well and had good legs, so I’m really happy with the win. The course was challenging in the fact that there was quite a bit of climbing combined with power sucking sticky mud, soft ground, and what felt like a headwind all the around the course. I got off to a good start and slotted into second through half of the first lap then took control of the front with Kaitie Keough after the first downhill section, and we gaped the rest of the field over the first 2 laps."

"On lap 3 three, Kaitie bobbled a slippery uphill section that I rode, so I accelerated at that point then attacked the downhill so I could get a gap. I tried to relax and be smooth and maintain the lead till the finish. It feels great to win another Pan-Am title and have a good race before heading back to Belgium today. My next race is the Super Prestige in Asper-Gavere on Sunday."
