Aerts podiums at World Cup

Toon takes third with Tom Pidcock scoring the U-23 win

It was a cold and sunny day in Denmark for the fourth stop of the cyclocross World Cup. The men’s race saw the usual suspects at the front, with European champ Mathieu van der Poel taking a confident win. The battle for second place was between Toon Aerts and Wout Van Aert, with both going deep to secure the placing. Even with several flats for both riders, Toon and Wout came to the line together and poured it on with everything they had left. Toon would have to settle for third.

"My 5th podium in a row, but the most beautiful of the season so far. Racing Mathieu and Wout motivated me to work hard for this important Christmas period. The gap between me and the absolute top seems to be getting closer!"

Tom Pidcock had another awesome ride, taking the win in the U-23 competition.

"It was an interesting course, as we are not used to running downhill. These sections made the course very challenging. I'm very happy to keep my leader jersey, although it will be hard to keep over the next weeks. I won't race next week's World Cup in Germany, but will be back for Namur in December!"

Lar’s came into the finish in fourth place.

"The race was not one of the best courses for me, but I tried my best. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling the barriers today, and tumbled on them. Happy to get a 4th place today. In terms of the season, I'm very happy with the results and my form. I hope to have even better fitness for the World Championships."
