Toon makes it two in Iowa

Toon Aerts wins second World Cup in Iowa

A weekend to remember for the Telenet-Fidea Lions. Saturday saw the World Cup Iowa, the second stop of the cyclocross World Cup, and all eyes were on the reigning champion Wout Van Aert and first round World Cup winner and overall World Cup leader Toon Aerts.

The epic battle that most expected would indeed occur, with the two clear favorites exchanging blows throughout the whole race.

Toon would eventually find the front of the race, and outlast the reigning World Champion to take the win.

“The past two weeks will be one of the best memories of my career so far. This was the best way to finish off my American campaign. I’m taking home the most UCI-points possible, plus the leaders jersey in the Telenet UCI World Cup. Having those after two good races, both for me and my supporters makes me very happy! I’m already looking forward to the next World Cup stage.”

In addition the World Cup win on Saturday, the team took the win on Sundays C1 with Nicolas Cleppe. Of the five races the team has entered this year, all five have been wins. Race winners include Lars van der Haar in Geraardsbergen, Quinten Hermans the C2 in Waterloo, Toon’s World Cup wins, and Nicolas on Sunday.
