Telenet-Fidea strongman second to Van der Poel
It was a weekend of classic cyclocross conditions, with the Telenet-Fidea Lions fighting for top position. After a solid second place to European champion Mathieu van der Poel on Saturday’s DVV in Niel, it was time for Toon to line up again at the Superprestige in Gavere.
The conditions suited Toon, who excels in the mud and rain. Second was to be the best Aerts could manage, finishing ahead of reigning World Champion Wout Van Aert, but unabel to catch a strong Van der Poel.
