Caroline Buchanan conquers Australian national champs once again

Caroline Buchanan has won national championships in three different disciplines

Caroline Buchanan is already an Australian sports legend — she’s in the hall of fame, in fact — but somehow she keeps finding ways to add to her resume. At Australian mountain bike national championships this past weekend, she added to her accolades with a pumptrack title.

Buchanan has now won national titles in pumptrack, four-cross and BMX.

“The weather held out for the pumptrack and the kids, men and women all put on a nail-biting show,” Buchanan said after the event.

Buchanan beat 19-year-old Shannon Petre for the title. The fact that Petre was an alum of Buchanan’s IGNITE scholarship program made the day even sweeter.

“These proud moments supporting the next generational talent means it’s only a matter of time before they’re knocking on my heels and going head to head,” Buchanan said.

Buchanan’s year is shaping up to be a big one. She is still working hard on her slopestyle and freeride progression, and looking forward to the Trek Momentum women’s progression camp in a few weeks, as well as the introduction of a Women’s Division into the FMB World Tour.

Rest assured, Buchanan won’t be resting on her laurels for long. Her 2022 so far looks like another one for the history books.
