Fleur Moors delivered a strong performance after a fast and aggressive edition of GP Oetingen on home roads.
Racing on familiar Belgian cobbles, the team faced a demanding day of racing from the start. Several early attacks animated the opening kilometres as teams looked to establish a breakaway on the 140km course, but the bunch remained largely in control with repeated accelerations stretching the field over the cobblestone sections. The Team stayed attentive throughout, positioning well near the front as the race entered its decisive phase.
In the final laps, the pace intensified and the peloton thinned under constant pressure, with attacks attempting to split the race before the finish. Ava Holmgren and Anna Henderson kept Fleur and Clara Copponi in the position at the front, so luckily we had two cards to play in the final. Clara was ready for the bunch gallop, while Fleur was ready to follow moves. It was Lorena Wiebes who launched the winning move on the final climb with only Moors being able to follow. In the two-up sprint, Wiebes took the honours ahead of Fleur, with Copponi crossing the line in eighth.
From Fleur..
When it was a two up sprint with Lorena, I knew second was the highest possible result. As soon as she started the sprint she had 2-3 wheel lengths on me but I'm really happy that I could follow her on the last climb. There were a lot of attacks throughout the race but everything kept coming back again and again. There was a climb with 2km to go and I was able to follow Lorena (Wiebes) when she attacked which was super hard but I could stay with her. On the line, Lorena was simply stronger but I'm very happy with the second place.
