The Cuban rider will strengthen the team's lead-out and bring valuable experience
Lidl-Trek is delighted to announce that Arlenis Sierra will join the Team from the 2027 season, with the Cuban rider signing a contract that will see her remain with the squad through 2028.
A hugely experienced and versatile rider, Sierra brings more than a decade of racing at the highest level to Lidl-Trek. Since turning professional, she has established herself as a formidable presence across the calendar, combining a strong engine with an ability to adapt to a wide variety of races and situations.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed an extensive list of victories and podiums throughout her career, particularly in one-day races and stage races suited to her punchy climbing ability. She has also become a consistent contender in the Classics, where her strength and racing intelligence allow her to play an important role deep into the toughest finales.
“Joining Lidl-Trek will be a new experience for me, but I'm very happy to be able to do it and to do my best, so I'm really looking forward to 2027.
I'm excited to know I have a new opportunity, with some apprehension about the changes but also a lot of enthusiasm for something new, to give my best in any task I have to perform, to see how I look with a new bike, new clothes, everything in general.”
Alongside her individual qualities, Sierra’s experience will be a valuable addition to a Lidl-Trek roster that continues to develop a strong mix of established leaders and emerging talent. Her understanding of racing at the highest level, combined with her willingness to contribute to the Team’s wider objectives, will make her an important asset both on and off the bike. She will also form a crucial part of the team’s lead-out train.
“I think I’d like to grow mainly in teaching training methods and in my own training, as well as knowing that I can also do good work for the team in general,” she explains.
Joining Lidl-Trek will give Sierra a fresh opportunity to compete for some of the biggest victories in women’s cycling while sharing her experience with a talented and ambitious group of riders. With her contract running through 2028, she will become an important part of the Team’s plans for the seasons ahead. Women’s Team Manager Frank Schleck is excited about the arrival of the Cuban talent:

Strengthening our lead-out and giving Elisa the best possible support in the finals is an important priority for us, and Arlenis has the power, experience and positioning skills to be a huge addition to that structure.
