Trek riders take UCI podiums in Puerto Rico

Brian Matter joins Bear Devo graduates on early season podium

It may still be cold in North America, but it’s always summer conditions in Puerto Rico. A contingent of top-talent made their way to the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico for an early UCI race. The group consisted of Bear Devo graduate Luke Vrouwendvelder, Linear Sport’s Brian Matter, and current Bear Devo junior Paul Fabian.

The junior race went as planned for Paul Fabian, who took his first UCI Victory of the season in the jungle of Mayaguez.

"The humidity seemed to match the blistering 85 degree temperatures at the start line, " said Paul Fabian. "Nevertheless, stoked to come away with a win!"

The elite race saw Luke Vrouwendvelder take the win, with Puerto Rican National Champion Georwill Perez Roman in second, and Brian Matter in third.

"After the Hurricane many of the trails were destroyed, the race promoters did a fantastic job to build this course in short time," said Brian Matter "It actually reminded me of a Wisconsin Off-Road Series race combined w/ a CX race with some massive snakes and lizards thrown in for special effects!. It suited me perfectly!"

"Really happy to ride my first UCI C1 race for the year in Puerto Rico and have a great ride to take a tight second place for my team!and in front of my home fans!" Said Georwill Perez Ramon.
