Corbin third at IM 70.3 Coeur d’Alene

Linsey races to her third podium this season in Idaho

Over 1900 athletes participated in the half Ironman in Idaho on June 24th, enjoying the scenic route that had them biking, swimming and running 70.3 miles along Lake Coeur d’Alene.  In the women’s pro race, Trek sponsored triathlete Linsey Corbin grabbed another third place podium, her third this season.

A few words from Linsey about her race:

I finished in third place today at the Coeur D’Alene 70.3 – one of my favorite races on the circuit.

My day started with a decent swim – not my best, not my worst. I exited right in the mix and ready to get to work on my Trek Speed Concept. I made a few tweaks in my race-week preparations and race-day execution on the bike and I think they paid off as I saw improvement over my last race.

I worked my way into third place on the hilly course that featured a few solid climbs as well as some ripping descents where being aero was a huge advantage.

I played my cards early in the run, trying to move up a spot and got within five seconds of second place. At the final turn-around, I was ready to make a move, but it didn’t stick as second place launched an attack that I just couldn’t match.

This was my third race in five weeks as well as my third 3rd place finish for the year. Doh! Time to move on up! 🙂

It’s always nice to end up on the podium, but I am motivated for more. I feel like I got an honest assessment of where I am fitness-wise, and I am looking forward to putting my head down and getting back to the basics and doing a solid block of work before I begin the back-half of my race season.

As always, thank you to my mechanic Mark and the Trek Race Shop for having me “dialed”. I arrived in Idaho close to race-day and my bike was dialed-in perfectly, so no stress there, which I always appreciate. It’s these little things that make a difference!

Thanks for the continued support. I am looking forward to working with Mark this week on my bike fit and testing some aerodynamics in LA that we can implement for Ironman Hawaii. Should be good fun and I always enjoy learning and finding ways to improve – so thank you in advance for this opportunity.

Catch up with you all soon – now time for rest!
