At 198 centimeters (6 feet 6 inches), Daan is one of the tallest riders in the pro peloton. Daan has a penchant for the Classics and time trials, and by his second year in the Under-23 category emerged as a force to be reckoned with, notably in tough, one-day races. The tall rouleur has spent the past four years with the U23 development team SEG Racing Academy, renowned for graduating many young talents to the WorldTour. Daan won his U23 National TT title in 2019, finished 6th in the 2020 European TT Championships and in the 2021 U23 World TT Championships. In 2021 he won the Italian classic Coppa della Pace and finished second overall in the Flanders Tomorrow Tour. Riding as a stagiaire for Trek-Segafredo, he showed he is ready for the WorldTour with 8th place in Binche-Chimay-Binche.
