Pedro López

Juan Pedro López is one of the young prospects Trek-Segafredo signed in 2020. He joined Trek-Segafredo as a stagiaire in 2019 after a successful season with the Kometa Cycling Team, where he gathered some promising top 10 GC results and won Stage 4 in the Giro Ciclistico della Valle d’Aosta Mont Blanc.  "Juanpe" is a purebred climber and in 2021 began to show his promise in the WorldTour, notably in La Vuelta a Espana when he was unexpectedly thrown into the role of Team leader after Giulio Ciccone abandoned to a crash.  After 21 grueling stages, he worked his way up to a solid 13th place, gaining valuable experience and boosting his confidence in only his second Grand Tour.   In 2022, Juanpe made his debut at the Giro d'Italia. After three stages he found himself well-placed in the general classification and jumped in the breakaway to Mount Etna. Juanpe seized his chance on the volcanic climb to become the new race leader, and wearer of the Maglia Rosa - one of the most beautiful prizes in cycling.
