Andrea Bagioli joins Lidl-Trek through 2026

Bagioli will strengthen Lidl-Trek across punchy terrain

Lidl-Trek is pleased to announce the signing of Andrea Bagioli on a three-year contract. The Italian rider, who turned 24 in March, will join the US-registered Team after four years as a professional, during which time he won five races, the most recent being a stage at Tour de Wallonie just a few weeks ago. Bagioli also counts a victory at the Drôme Classic on his palmarès, a tough early-season race in southeast France.

After turning professional as one of the most promising talents of Italian cycling, year after year Bagioli has confirmed his growth as a complete rider. It’s no coincidence that, despite his young age, he has never missed a call up from the national team to take part in the World Championships.

One-day races and stages are his favorite hunting ground: that’s where Andrea and Lidl-Trek would like to see him perform in the next three years.

Andrea Bagioli: “Lidl-Trek is building a great sports project. The Team has amazing prospects and the desire to grow is evident. That’s what convinced me the most. I have always been impressed by the serenity and spirit that the team conveys. The future of this Team looks great, and although I had other interesting offers, I had no hesitation when I got the call from Luca [Guercilena] and Josu [Larrazabal]. I accepted with the utmost conviction, it’s a super exciting project.

“At this point in my career, after four important years with Soudal-Quickstep, it was time to try something different. I want to thank them for the opportunities they offered me. I built my experience step by step. I grew gradually and I got great results. But there is still a lot to work on, starting with the consistency in my performances. A factor I want to improve in the new chapter of my career with Lidl-Trek.

“My main goal is to win the trust of  team and teammates so that I can enjoy more freedom in the races that suit me best, without forgetting to be part of a team contribution, one of Lidl-Trek’s strong points. The ambition is to win soon a classic in the Ardennes, my favorite races, and a stage in one of the three Grand Tours.”

Luca Guercilena, General Manager at Lidl-Trek: “Andrea is a pure talent and we are more than happy to add him in our squad of ambitious young riders. He is a serious guy, a top-quality rider who, when he is on a good day, has already shown his competitiveness at the highest level. He has the ideal profile for our sports project. We want to help him to grow, to improve and to become more solid in order to unlock his potential as the serial winner that is part of his rider DNA.”
