The Belgian fights back to third on Stage 7 of the Spanish Grand Tour after being caught behind a late crash.
Edwards Theuns came to a complete standstill with around five kilometers to go to the finish line in Oliva after being caught up behind a crash, the second in quick succession after the chaos kicked in following a relatively straightforward stage up until the final 20-30 kilometers.
The Lidl-Trek rider, and leader for the sprint stages at this year’s Vuelta a España, put in a big effort with the help of teammates, Jacopo Mosca and Otto Vergaerde, to make it back to the front of the bunch in time for the fast and furious finish.
Despite not being in the best position on the left-hand corner that brought the riders out onto the finishing straight, Theuns was able to show both his strength and determination with a sprint that once again saw him in an agonisingly close fight for victory.

It was very hectic. First of all I was behind the crash at 5km to go. I was completely standing still and had to do a a really big effort to come back in the first bunch. I had to recover a bit from that and then Jacopo was luckily still there and brought me to the front in the last kilometer. I think I did again I did a smart move by taking the last corner well and I came in the wheel of the first guy but I didn’t have I had the punch left to even come out of the wheel, but it’s again in the mix and a fair result.
