eMTB World Champ wins first ever World Cup

Nathalie Schneitter tops the podium in Monaco at World E-Bike Series

As the e-bikes left the start line in Monaco this weekend, it was a historic moment for mountain biking. This was the first ever e-mountain bike (eMTB) World Cup competition.

2019 eMTB World Champion Nathalie Schneitter was there to take part, and she snagged the inaugural cup’s trophy.

“It’s fun to see the sport progressing and I am proud to be part of it,” Schneitter said. “To win the first race of the World Cup in the rainbow jersey is especially exciting.”

The course was marked with long, technical uphills, something key for eMTB to show its unique competitive capabilities. Riders completed six laps of the 2.3 km circuit.

“My next race will be the second round of the UCI eMTB World Cup in April in Switzerland,” Schneitter said. “Racing on home soil is always special.”
