Nathalie Schneitter wins e-bike World Champs

Swiss rider wins inaugural e-bike rainbow jersey

After 30 years of UCI MTB World Championships, a new discipline has joined the ranks. E-MTB is a now a full fledged category, complete with the coveted rainbow jersey up for grabs. Taking the inaugural win in the womens category was Switzerland’s own Nathalie Schneitter, taking a strong win aboard her Trek e-bike.

Nathalie has been riding e-bikes for some times, and this project was born after the news that e-bikes would be included in World Champs.

The project has been in my head for about a year after the announcement was made," said Nathalie. "E-bikes have been something I have riden for around two years, and the opportunity to race in a new discipline, aboard a product that is such a big part of my life, was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. We started this project in April, to simply get experience and become an expert in this nascent category of competition. I took the time the become acclimated with the bike, race as often as I could, and felt like the whole project came together just in time.

I have been retired from cross country XC for several years now, but coming back for World Championships in the e-MTB category was totally worth it. I am very thankful for the equipment and people around me, it was amazing!

Nathalie will wear the rainbow jersey for the next year
