Crankworx Rotorua recap

Freeride MTB gets started in New Zealand

The first stop of the Crankworx series took place this weekend in Rotorua, New Zealand. The Trek family represented in force, snagging results in the EWS round, the Whip Off, Downhill, and the Slopestyle.

Casey Brown took to the Enduro earlier in the week, in addition to a full repertoire of other races which included a win in the Whip Off and third in the DH. Hear her reactions.

For the Slopestyle, it was all Brandon Semenuk and Emil Johansson. Brandon came out swinging, and looked to have the day’s best run until a fall on the last jump. His second run didn’t go as planned, with a slipped pedal all but ensuring he would miss out on the win.

Emil Johansson came to play, and dropped two terrific runs to secure third place, his first ever Slopestyle podium.

With the dust settled on the week-long event, Trek riders saw great success, starting with the 5th place by Katy Winton in the Enduro, the strong performances in Whip Off, Speed and Style, DH, and Slopestyle. Next stop for Crankworx is Lets Gets, France on June 14th.
