Enduro team battles in Italy

TFR Enduro takes on challenging course at EWS La Thuile

The Enduro World Series is often built to push riders to the limit. Consider that challenge met after this weekend’s visit to La Thuile, Italy. Riders were challenged to a true trail trial, with competitors looking quickly to limit losses, and survive.

The intrepid members of Trek Factory Racing fought hard, with Katy Winton taking the team’s top result of fifth place, maintaining her third place overall position for the season. Ruaridh Cunningham took a strong 14th, and Pedro Burns coming in at 41st.

Katy Winton was looking to make it out of day one alive, and then climb the ladder on day two. In her own words,

"After a disastrous start to the weekend, throwing away a minute and a half on stage one, I was pleased to turn things around and find my mojo again on day two. The second day started with a fifth, third, second, and third on the stages which climbed me back up to the fifth spot overall. This also kept me in my third place overall position for the Enduro World Series. The EWS is pushing the limits of how hard they can make the trails we race, so this weekend truly battered us! Looking forward to Whistler now, and as always can't thank the team enough for their support!"

Ruaridh Cunningham is coming into his own during his first season in the EWS. Today was another solid ride to 14th place.

"Definitely a challenging week here at my first alpine EWS in La Thuile. I loved the long technical stages but I struggled to maintain intensity all the way through, and felt like I was losing a lot of time towards the end of the stages. I gave it everything and 14th still gives me good series points and moves me into 12th overall. Looking forward to getting home, regrouping and getting ready for Whistler."
