Trek Factory Racing scores at EWS Rotorua

Katy Winton scores top-5 and stage win

The Trek Factory Racing enduro team traveled to Rotorua, New Zealand to take part in the first stop of the Enduro World Series. Casey Brown, Katy Winton, and Lewis Buchanan journeyed to the beautiful North Island retreat, and were greeted by wet and muddy conditions for the season opener.

Casey Brown came into the race with a chest cold, and would eventually yield to her ailment, dropping out towards the end of the competition. Lewis Buchanan fought hard in his return to full on competition after injury, securing a top-20. Katy Winton had a breakthrough weekend, winning a stage, and securing a 5th overall finish.

Katy came into the race with focus and good fitness, having spent close to a month training in New Zealand. Solid preparation, alongside conditions she’s accustomed to, helped support her race. The overview of the day in her words,

"It was great riding in conditions just like Scotland, working to make the most of it all. Was having a good go up until stage 5 when I lost heaps of time making mistakes, but winning the last stage (stage 7) really made up for that. Winning the final stage was a goal for me, as I know people are always tired towards the end, and it's a great opportunity to make up time. Absolutely buzzing on the 5th overall, and winning my first EWS stage!"
