Winton scores EWS podium

Katy Winton secures 2nd place at Enduro World Series Ireland

It was an action packed weekend in Wicklow, Ireland. Katy Winton put together a fantastic day on the bike to get a 2nd place finish, and secure her very first Enduro World Series podium.

Katy has been close to the podium this year, but this marks the Scot’s first time on the box. As is the story of this year, the weather forecast for the day looked marginal at best. From Katy,

"We had practice in the dry dusty conditions on Friday then in absolutely soaking wet on Saturday which made for an interesting race. The trails were constantly changing and it was about adapting your riding to those ever changing conditions. After a good start to the season I'd shown myself the pace was there that could get me a podium. I knew Ireland suited me rain or shine, I just had to actually put together a consistent day and believe I could be that fast."

"The bike was incredible and I am so happy with how I rode, not all perfect but everything considered it was the consistency with the pace I wanted all day. To end up on the podium with that has me absolutely buzzing. Hard work paying off as things all came together at the right time. Big thanks to the team, Ray, Sander and James for everything they do to get bike and rider 100% ready, it's as much their podium as it is mine!!"

Lewis Buchanan was looking for a good weekend, but had some tough luck right at the start of the day. From Lewis,

"My weekend was pretty good. The end result is not what I came here for, but coming back from a huge crash on stage 1 that started me off in 155th, to grabbing great stage results on stage 2,3,4 &, 5 with a snapped chain was still a positive for me. My speed is really good right now and this weekend I just had a bit of bad luck. More positives than negatives to take from the weekend so I look forward to keep on improving."

The team now heads to Scotland for the famed Tweedlove Festival. Stay tuned!
