The experienced puncheur has signed a contract with Trek-Segafredo through 2023
We are thrilled to welcome Tony Gallopin back to the team. The 33-year-old Frenchman has signed a two-year deal which will see him race with us through 2023. Gallopin previously raced with the Trek family in 2012 and 2013 when he won Clásica San Sebastian.
He is moving into his 15th season as a professional and has enjoyed a successful career with 12 wins, including stage victories at the Tour de France and Vuelta a España. Gallopin has also worn the coveted yellow jersey in the world’s biggest race.
Gallopin is hungry to return to his best after some tough seasons. He aims to take on a dual role with Trek-Segafredo: guiding our developing young talents and fighting for results when the opportunity arises.

Tony Gallopin: “I’m super happy. It’s really nice that Trek-Segafredo believes in me. I already know a lot of people, some sport directors, staff and riders. It’s not a new team for me because I was there already in 2012 and 2013.
“I will enjoy it and I have a big motivation for next year, that’s for sure. I had a lot of bad luck in the last two years, so first I want to be back on my best level and find again the grinta to play for wins in the races. The last two years were difficult so it feels good to have this Team believing in me, because I’m sure I can be back fighting in the biggest races.
“My role will be something quite new for me. I’m 33 now, I have a lot of experience, and next year will be my 15th year as a professional rider. I spoke with Luca and the Team has a lot of young talent that I can help to improve and progress, so I will sometimes take the role of road captain.”

Luca Guercilena, General Manager: “Tony is an extremely experienced rider and has a very nice palmares. While we continue to place an emphasis on developing young riders it is very important that we have experienced riders who can help guide the developing riders, and who are happy to do this, like Tony. Of course, we think he still has the ability to win, and he is very motivated, so together we will help him re-find the grinta that he is looking for. It’s very nice to welcome Tony back to the Team.”
