Trek-Segafredo and gebioMized continue partnership

John Degenkolb, Richie Porte and Bauke Mollema have full confidence in the bike fitting experts from Muenster, Germany

Trek-Segafredo will continue to rely on the bike fitting experts of gebioMized into 2019.  GebioMized continues to bring cutting-edge bike fitting techniques to the team, which has already paid dividends.

“We are now entering our fifth season together,” said bike fitter Michael Killermann, who was part of extensive testing with German John Degenkolb in the cobblestone project, which helped Degenkolb establish the critical groundwork to his long-awaited and emotional victory in stage nine of the 2018 Tour de France.

It’s a great feeling when this long-term, meticulously prepared plan comes to fruition months later.

“We were already chasing over the cobblestones again and again with gebioMized in October. It’s a great feeling when this long-term, meticulously prepared plan comes to fruition months later,” explained Degenkolb, who works with geobioMized at various times throughout the season.

A key piece of the puzzle on the path to success is the well-founded analyses and a gradual furthering development of the riding positions by gebioMized. Michael Killermann and his colleagues rely on in-house developed technology like the dynamic measurement of saddle pressure.

“We pay great attention to the three contact points between man and machine,” Killermann elaborated, referring to the saddle, handlebars, and pedals. “We want to further optimize the interaction between road bike and cyclist so that the men and women sit better on the saddle and carve even higher speeds into the tarmac. Notably, the custom-made bike shoe inlays manufactured in Muenster provide for good pressure on the pedal.”

Trek-Segafredo is aiming for more triumphs in the upcoming season. Australian Richie Porte and Belgian Jasper Stuyven are targeting the Grand Tours, while John Degenkolb is focused on the Spring Classics again, but also has his eye on the World Championship road race in Yorkshire.

“GebioMized convinces us again and again with their technical lead and high expertise. It is only logical that we will continue to work side by side in the future,” said Matt Shriver, technical director of Trek-Segafredo.
