Lauren Goss perfect in Peru

Goss smashes the women's field to win IRONMAN 70.3 Lima.

Lauren Goss opened her 2019 season with a dominant win at the Ironman 70.3 Lima, leading the race from start to finish and crossed the line almost nine minutes ahead of second-place Kinsey Laine (USA). Cecilia Davis-Hayes (USA) rounded out the all-American podium.

Goss was first out of the water and held her lead through the bike leg with a second-best split (2:17:16), and then smashed the field in the run with a PR time of 1:20:24 for the half marathon.

Exactly one year ago I was on sleeping pills and depression meds experiencing days of insomnia and today I had one of my best 70.3 performances!! Times like these are special, but honestly, I’m so happy that I took the time to work on myself to find happiness and not suffer from anxiety anymore. That’s the big win today - mentally healthy, happy, and fit!

This was my season opener and it could not have gone better. I led from start to finish but posted my best times over all three disciplines. I have a big year ahead so I am looking forward to seeing more progression. As always, thank you to my sponsors and supporters!

I split 38:10 for the first 10km and 38:25 for the second 10km with a very slow last km at 4:00. This is my best run in a 70.3 to date (1:20.24)!

My new Speed Concept was dialed perfectly and I absolutely loved riding the SRAM road AXS groupset!
