Downhill team score podium in elite and junior categories
It was the first weekend out for the team, and it was a solid one at that. The IXS Cup in Maribor became a World Cup tune up for most, including the new Trek Factory Racing DH team. In addition to getting the new pit set-up assembled, it was a time to shakeout the legs and get to racing. At the end of the weekend, it would be Charlie Harrison in third for elites, Reece Wilson in 22nd for elites, and Ethan Shandro in second for juniors.
Charlie Harrison made some big moves this weekend with his third place finish
Charlie has been looking forward to the chance to race in Europe since Worlds in 2018. Last weekend was his opportunity. In his own words;
Man this weekend was incredible. It was the first real race with the whole team and the new set up. The pits are unreal, everything came together so nicely thanks to everyone’s hard work. It was good to get another solid week of riding and racing in before the first World Cup. I’m feeling really comfortable with the bike and the program, everything just seems to be working together in great unison. I was really happy with my 3rd place finish this weekend, the track was super physical and there were so many fast guys racing!
It’s so awesome to see the support from all our sponsors and everyone within Trek. Everyone is so happy with how the program is coming together, and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to getting the World Cup season underway this week!
Reece will look to come in strong at the World Cup this coming weekend
Reece Wilson came in with a bit of a cold, and struggled to keep it at full speed. Not stressed, Reece is eyes forward to the big goals in the World Cup. In his own words;
I’ve been busy this week trying to set up my bike and feel comfortable on track. I got sick a few days before the race which had me pretty tired then gave myself a fright in my qualifying run so I was pretty happy to just ride smooth and safe. Looking forward to getting stuck into the World Cup this weekend.
Ethan Shandro is revolutionizing style, and grabbing podiums
Ethan Shandro is coming out of the gate hot, and took a solid second place finish in the junior category. Ethan shares his thoughts on the weekend below;
Had a sweet time racing this weekend, the whole team was working smooth as butter can’t ask for more. Enjoying the tracks here and can’t wait to dial it up a notch next weekend for the World Cup.
