Mattias
Skjelmose
Lidl-Trek continued to invest in young talent when they added Mattias Skjelmose to the team in 2021. The young Dane was a world-class junior in 2018, winning the Tour du Pays de Vaud, taking second at the Peace Race, and then third at Paris-Roubaix. He showed he had the makings of a Grand Tour rider during his WorldTour debut at the UAE Tour, where he finished sixth overall. Then in 2022, his results really started to get noticed by the wider cycling world. The young Dane racked up five GC podiums during the season before finally getting his much-deserved first pro win: Tour of Luxembourg Stage 4, as well as twinning he overall race. He has only continued progressing in 2023, winning the general classification at the Tour de Suisse ahead of his start at the Tour de France. What awaits Mattias Skjelmose? We can’t wait to find out!
