Shirin
van Anrooij
Shirin is one of the most exciting young riders in the world. She can do it all — equally adept on the road as she is at cyclocross as a member of Baloise-Trek. She broke out in 2022 when she won the young rider competition at the Tour de France Femmes while riding in service of Elisa Longo Borghini. After her road season, she went on to win six elite cyclocross races, including three World Cups, as well as the U23 World Championship. When she went back to the road with Lidl-Trek in 2023, she didn't miss a beat, scoring her first WorldTour victory at Trofeo Binda, then taking the general classification, mountains classification AND a stage win at the Tour de l'Avenir Femmes. Shirin is the purest definition of a racer, and her progress has been thrilling to watch.

Who inspires you? Why?
Marc Herremans! He started coaching me when I was younger and I have so much respect for him for being so happy and grateful to be alive after everything that happened to him. He broke his back during an accident during a training camp and was paralyzed. His power to never give up is an inspiration for me!
If you could borrow one cycling aptitude from any of your Lidl-Trek teammates what would it be and from whom?
I would definitely borrow the experience and tactical knowledge of Lizzie Deignan. The amount of races she raced and ended on the top podium spot is huge, I think every cyclist is dreaming to achieve what she's already achieved.
What is your favorite Bontrager or Trek equipment?
My personal (custom) designed Worlds cyclocross bike which I received at the beginning of 2020 after winning the Junior World Championships.
