Amanuel
Ghebreigzabhier
Amanuel is one of the top cyclists from Eritrea, a country that has become a force in cycling. He has found a home in the WorldTour as an excellent climber with the fortitude to take on the rigors of three-week Grand Tours. In 2023, he rode both the Vuelta a España and the Giro d'Italia, and earned sixth- and fourth-place stage finishes in those races, respectively. On both stages, he spent more than 100 kilometers in the breakaway, demonstrating both his strength and the confidence that Lidl-Trek has in him. Amanuel's first win at the WorldTour level may not be far away.

A stage in a Grand Tour.
Who has been a role model for you in cycling?
I have a lot of memories from riding in local races in Eritrea when I was young. I remember especially Daniel Teklehaimanot. At the time, he was racing for the GreenEdge team and I have a lot of good memories about him.
What is your favorite Bontrager or Trek equipment?
I really like the Trek Emonda. Trek is a very famous bike in Eritrea. A lot of riders ride Trek in Eritrea and all of the local teams are using it and so is the national team. My first bike was also a Trek!
