Lauretta
Hanson

Lauretta raced in the USA for six years before leaping to Europe and the WorldTour with Lidl-Trek in the team's first year of existence. It didn't take long for the Australian to adapt to the harsh European cycling lifestyle. Navigating narrow roads amid a bigger, more aggressive peloton came naturally. She is a strong all-rounder with a big engine and an even bigger heart. Lauretta is a treasured teammate who has fully embraced her role supporting the squad. No one works harder or more reliably for others.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who gave it?

I was told not to wait until I was ready because I would never be ready. A friend/mentor gave me this advice when I was deciding if I wanted to go to America for the first time. In the end, it was crucial advice that has helped me get to where I am.

If you could borrow one cycling aptitude from any of your Lidl-Trek teammates what would it be and from whom?

I'd borrow some of Lucinda's descending skills, because I love the feeling of flying down hill.

Who inspires you? Why?

My Mum. She used to race when she was younger but didn't have the opportunities that I have. This inspires me to work hard, make the most of what I have and not waste opportunities.

What is your favorite Bontrager or Trek equipment?

My Flare RT lights. They may be small, but riding with them gives me confidence and helps me to feel safe and seen while riding my bike.
