Kanute

Ben Kanute is an Olympian and world class triathlete. In 2021, he turned in another great season as one of the fastest American triathletes, winning Ironman 70.3 Oceanside and Escape from Alcatraz, and finishing sixth at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in St. George. Ben graduated from University of Arizona in 2014 and dove into a professional triathlete career. Watch for more great things from Ben in 2022.

Tell us about your greatest achievement as an athlete.

Qualifying for the Olympic Games by running fast and not relying on my usual swim or bike strength. It was at Yokohama WTS and the swim and bike are not as separating, so I had to run fast to secure my spot, and prove everyone wrong who labeled me as just a swim/biker. This was one of my first real breakthroughs as a professional triathlete.

If you could have a dinner party with any three people in the world, alive or dead, who would you pick?

Always a difficult question! Muhammad Ali, Teddy Roosevelt, and a great great grandma or grandpa.

What is your favorite family tradition?

Thanksgiving brunch.
