Giulio Ciccone made headlines in his first professional season at the age of 21 when he soloed to an impressive win in Stage 10 of the 2016 Giro d’Italia. It was a dramatic victory in his first Grand Tour. But the agile climber surpassed this memorable moment in his first WorldTour season with Trek-Segafredo: Giulio won Stage 16 of the 2019 Giro and claimed the Maglia Azzurra (climbers jersey) after holding it for 20 of the 21 Stages (only yielding it for one day to teammate Gianluca Brambilla). He later turned blue into yellow in his Tour de France debut. Giulio claimed the coveted Yellow Jersey with a second-place finish in Stage 6 and held the race lead for two glorious days. Giulio started 2020 with a win in the Italian classic Trofeo Laigueglia but endured a frustrating year plagued with illness and could not find his top gear again.
