Giulio
Ciccone

Giulio Ciccone made headlines in his first professional season at the age of 21 when he soloed to an impressive win in Stage 10 of the 2016 Giro d’Italia. It was a dramatic victory in his first Grand Tour. But the agile climber surpassed this memorable moment in his first WorldTour season with Trek-Segafredo: Giulio won Stage 16 of the 2019 Giro and claimed the Maglia Azzurra (climbers jersey). He later turned blue into yellow in his Tour de France debut. Giulio claimed the coveted Yellow Jersey with a second-place finish in Stage 6 and held the race lead for two glorious days. A combination of unfortunate factors meant Giulio struggled to replicate the success of his 2019 season in 2020 and 2021, although the Abruzzo native showed potential as a GC candidate at  the 2021 Giro until injury forced him to abandon on Stage 18. Not to be deterred, Giulio bounced back with an emphatic solo victory on the fifteenth stage of Giro d’Italia in 2022.
