Bernard

Born and raised near Nevers, France, Julien Bernard joined the team as a stagiaire in 2015 and confirmed his talent and place in the team with an unexpected leadership role and a 10th place finish at the USA Pro Challenge in Colorado. He signed a pro contract in 2016 and is now beginning his fifth year with the team. The son of former professional cyclist Jean-François Bernard, Julien is a strong climber and savvy rider who has made a niche for himself as a breakaway specialist and reliable support for the team's GC leaders in the Grand Tours. Julien claimed his first pro race victory early in the 2020 season, winning from the day's breakaway atop the famed Mont Faron climb in Stage 3 at the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var.
