Corne wins in Hasselt

Telenet-Fidea takes top steps on podium

Corne van Kessel started his race with a crash, and finished with a win. After a first lap crash it looked to be all but over for the in-form Dutchman at GP Hasselt, however a determined attitude brought him back into contention, and the win. Corne worked well with teammate Toon Aerts to distance the field, and even came together for the sprint, where Corne edged Toon. From Corne,

"I had a fall in the first lap, so at that point I was dead last in the race. I came back bit by bit. During the last lap I still had a bit left in the tank to take the win over Toon."

Toon rode a consistent and smart race, securing yet another podium in his terrific 2017 season. In his words,

"It was very clear we could get away from the rest of the riders in the last two laps. So we had the chance to have a two-man sprint for the line. Corne was just a bit faster than me."

Ellen Van Loy also scored a podium, with a well earned third place.
