Brandon Semenuk adds an X Games gold medal to a storied career
Brandon Semenuk had wanted an X Games gold medal for a long time. His entry into the Real MTB competition was named the judges’ winner this past Saturday, against other strong videos featuring Brage Vestavik (silver), Cam Zink (bronze), Danny MacAskill, Veronique Sandler and DJ Brandt.
You can watch Semenuk’s video here:
Semenuk is one of the most influential freeride and slopestyle mountain bikers of all time. He is a three-time Red Bull Rampage champion, three-time Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour gold medalist, and a 2013 Munich X Games silver medalist in slopestyle. After taking gold, he wrote on Instagram, “This one was on my mind for many years, stoked to finally make it happen.”
The Real MTB competition was held for the first time ever this year as part of the X Games’ Real Series, which includes events like Real Moto, Real Snow and Real BMX. With the win, Semenuk etched his name in yet another section of mountain biking history.
