Carlos Verona set to join Lidl-Trek through 2025

Lidl-Trek welcomes Spaniard Carlos Verona on a two-year contract

Lidl-Trek is thrilled to announce the recruitment of Spanish all-rounder Carlos Verona on a 2-year contract. Verona has made a name for himself as one of the best domestiques in the peloton, and is motivated to contribute to Lidl-Trek’s ongoing success from 2024 onwards. Whilst the majority of his career has been dedicated to helping his leaders, Verona was able to take a stunning stage win in the 2022 Critérium du Dauphiné, which sits proudly at the top of his palmarès.

“After five very nice years in Movistar Team I had the feeling that it was the right moment to look around to find a team where I could keep growing as cyclist,” explained Carlos Verona. “I want to enjoy the best years of my career with new goals and motivations and luckily the opportunity to join Lidl-Trek came just at the right moment. Everything happens for a reason and I am very happy about this journey that is about to start.

“What attracts me most to Lidl-Trek is the way the team usually races. You can feel how every team member fights for the team goals, playing with different cards while having fun. I can’t wait to be part of a such international group of people where the influence of different countries and cultures makes the team so interesting for every team member.”

Verona became pro rider in 2013. He will join Lidl-Trek after 5 seasons with Movistar

“I think I have so many things to learn from my future team members and also I am looking forward to share my knowledge with the younger ones, work as hard as I can for our team leaders, which is what I enjoy most, but also take my own opportunities when possible for stage wins. I think the way Lidl-Trek races can help me a lot to develop this ‘hidden’ part of my strengths.

“On top of that I am very happy to join a project that is in the beginning of a new era with Lidl as a new sponsor, along with the knowledge of Trek behind the team and additionally I am really happy to keep working with SRAM. I think we have all the ingredients necessary to grow, represent our sponsors in the best way possible and make them proud on and off the road. I can’t wait to be a part of Lidl-Trek from 2024 onwards!”

Lidl-Trek General Manager, Luca Guercilena, shared his excitement for Carlos’ arrival. “Carlos Verona is one of the most respected riders in the peloton because of his unfaltering work ethic and strong values. He is consistent and reliable, which are two essential qualities for a top-class domestique. Carlos has 12 years of WorldTour experience, but both the Team and rider believe he can take a step forward with the environment Lidl-Trek will provide.”
