The Italian sprinter makes it sixth victory in a row for Lidl-Trek at the Japan Cup Criterium.
If you blinked you might have missed the peloton in Utsunomiya over the 15 laps of the 2.25km city center circuit.
The speed was high but Lidl-Trek were cool, calm and collected and keep the race under control with a perfect display of teamwork that ultimately led to Mathias Vacek doing a perfect final lead-out for Milan.
From there, nothing was going to stop the ‘Bull of Buja’ from hitting the target and securing the bunch sprint victory.
It was a short race but it was really intense. The teamwork from everyone was perfect, I have to say, and I am really happy to take this victory for my guys in one of the last races of the year. It's also great to take this win in front of all of these people and the wonderful fans here in Japan. Everyone was telling me about it, but it is even more incredible than I imagined. Thank you for the warm reception here."
