Defending champion targeting return at Dwars door Vlaanderen, Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix
Defending champion Mads Pedersen will not start In Flanders Fields (formerly known as Gent-Wevelgem) on Sunday due to illness.
The three-time winner recently returned to competition following his recovery from a broken wrist, racing Milano-Sanremo and yesterday’s E3 Saxo Classic, where the wrist came through without issue on the cobbles. However, with illness affecting his condition, the team and rider have agreed that rest is the right call. The plan is for Mads to recover fully in time for Dwars door Vlaanderen, Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix.
Hear from Mads himself below:
Despite Mads’ absence, Lidl-Trek will still be targeting the top step of the podium with a strong team, including last year’s third-place finisher Jonathan Milan.
