Emily Batty defends Canadian cross country title
It was a full and action packed weekend in Canmor, Alberta for the Canadian National Championships. Emily Batty arrived focused and ready to take on all challengers in defense of her national title. With a stacked field, it would not be an easy day. Regardless of the challenge, Emily would come out on top and secure the win.
“I’m thrilled to win and defend the title at Canadian National Championships. It’s confirmation that we are on track for the latter half of the season and everything went to plan in the race. The competitors were strong in the opening laps, and Catherine attacked on the final lap which is when I counter attacked on the uphill and opened a gap immediately. The ProCal was a right choice for the race as I believed the event was won on the climbs even though it was easy to make mistakes on the descents. I even ended up taking the QOM challenge and won the fastest time in the downhill. It was an exciting weekend, and I’m looking forward to Boston US Cup next week followed by the World Cup in Canada.”
