Trek Factory Racing XC, DH and Enduro will be racing on Pirelli tires beginning this season
Trek Factory Racing is partnering with Pirelli, which will provide tires to Trek’s flagship XC, enduro and downhill squads for the next three years.
Beginning this season, TFR’s XC squad will race on Pirelli’s battle-tested Scorpion XC line. Meanwhile, the DH and Enduro teams will take Pirelli’s new Scorpion DH and Enduro tires to the fiercest challenges of the newly-minted UCI MTB World Series.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled that the Trek Factory Racing mountain bike teams will be working with Pirelli,” said Tim Vanderjeugd, Trek’s global director of sports marketing. “We’ve seen firsthand how much passion, care and attention Pirelli devotes to racing performance through their partnership with Trek-Segafredo. Expanding that partnership to include the Trek Factory Racing squads was an easy decision. We look forward to helping Pirelli push their products forward while they help us perform at the highest level on the world’s biggest stages.”
By partnering with Trek, Pirelli will have access to TFR athletes to advance the development of its performance mountain bike tires through an exhaustive process of testing and feedback that has long been Pirelli’s modus operandi. Pirelli’s new line of Scorpion tires will be developed and produced at a brand new plant in Bicocca.
“The growing collaboration with a leading company like Trek, with both road and now mountain bike athletes, confirms how happy we have been during our journey together over the past few years,” said Matteo Barbieri, head of Pirelli Cycling. “This new phase demonstrates how committed we are to being leaders in competitive cycling, which also functions as an open-air laboratory for our own product development. Being able to work with the best athletes allows us to continuously advance the technological level of our cycling tires so that they surpass the quality and performance standard that professional cyclists need, while retaining the adaptability and versatility that amateur riders desire.”
Trek Factory Racing boasts some of the world’s strongest athletes in all three disciplines including three former elite world champions in Jolanda Neff (XC 2017, Olympic champion 2021), Evie Richards (XC 2021) and Reece Wilson (DH 2020). Last year, TFR riders won a combined seven World Cup or Enduro World Series races and racked up seven national or continental championships.
As with Trek-Segafredo, Pirelli’s logo will also appear on the chest and shirt sleeve of TFR’s team kits. Pirelli has been a tremendous partner with the road team. Expanding its partnerships to Trek’s mountain bike teams is a natural step forward for two brands driven by performance and delivering the very best products.
