The inside story of Trek Factory Racing-Pirelli XC's injury comebacks and World Championship magic
Somehow, some way, Trek Factory Racing-Pirelli XC just keeps dropping our jaws to the floor.
The squad animated seemingly every race it entered. Riley Amos was one of the most dominant riders of the year, winning the U23 men’s short track and XCO overall World Cup titles with nine wins across both disciplines. Evie Richards (2nd elite women’s XCC) and Madigan Munro (3rd U23 women’s XCC and XCO) also ended up on end-of-season podiums, Richards after making an impressive comeback from a concussion.
No race encompassed this team’s grit and talent like World Championships in Andorra. There, Trek XC athletes racked up six world titles — Madigan Munro in the team relay, Albert Philipsen in the junior men’s XCO, Isabella Holmgren in the U23 women’s XCC and XCO, Amos in the men’s U23 men’s XCC, and Richards in the elite women’s XCC with an all-time sprint to edge out Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.
Words can only tell the story so much. In the team’s end of season video, you can see and feel the emotion of an unforgettable season, and hear from riders like Gwendalyn Gibson on what it’s like to fight back from injuries in one of the most unforgiving sports in the world.
