The devil in the details

Trek's product designer talks about TFR CX's new look

The Trek Factory Racing CX team launched its cyclocross roster and kit yesterday, along with a fresh look for the Trek Boone. The team bikes are equipped with SRAM eTap AXS, as they were in past years. The wheels are Bontrager, paired up with Challenge tires.

Trek’s product designer Micah Moran had the task of making this bike belong the riders of Trek Factory Racing.

I abide by the mantra of 'Keep Cross Weird'

This year’s team bike will follow a new design and look that shows homage to Trek’s original investment into cross with the Trek Cyclocross Collective. The addition of coral highlights pulls in the Trek Factory Racing history of reds, while leaning to a new and unique look for the team’s cyclocross wing.

“I abide by the mantra of ‘Keep Cross Weird’ so that was at the front of mind as I designed the Boone race scheme,” said Moran. “Cross is a sport of constantly changing camera angles, so the asymmetric design keeps the design dynamic no matter how you view it. Trek has placed an ‘X’ on every cross bike we’ve produced for the last 20 years, so I covered this one with a textural ‘X’ pattern.”
