Winton takes third at EWS#1

Trek Factory Racing Enduro impresses at Enduro World Series Lo Barnechea

It was a wild weekend at the Enduro World Series in Lo Barnechea, Chile with Katy Winton taking third overall, and newcomer Pedro Burns taking 13th. The first weekend of EWS racing was full of action, with riders learning to cope with the loose Chilean dirt.

No stranger to the loose conditions of Chile is local hero Pedro Burns, the newest member of the Trek Factory Racing squad. 2018 is Pedro’s first year in the elite category, and the year’s first race showed his huge potential with a strong 13th place finish against many established racers of the series.

"The race was hard, long and intense. That said, I am very happy with my result. The team kept my bike in perfect condition and supported me the whole weekend. Being local, the the crowd cheering me along the course was truly an amazing experience."

Picking up right where she left off was Scotland’s Katy Winton, who took a strong third place finish. The first race of the year is always a time of uncertainty, but Katy allayed those fears with a terrific performance.

"Solid start to the season, glad to start 2018 where we left off last season. Still learning a lot in terms of consistency across the weekend but stoked to end on the podium with the new team mates and mechanics and all our new sponsors. On to Columbia!"

The team heads over to Manizales, Columbia for the next stop in the Enduro World Series. Stay tuned for next weekend’s racing!
