Ben Kanute tops a strong field in St. Anthony’s Triathlon

A great start to the season sees Ben take his third win in three races.

Ben Kanute continued his winning ways, taking his third successive victory in the St. Anthony’s Triathlon held in St.Petersberg, Florida on April 28th.  Kanute won in a time of 1:46:03, followed by Jason West in second (1:47:58), and Joe Maloy in third (1:48:34).

I came to St. Anthony's Triathlon after winning my last two races, a draft legal sprint and a 70.3. Today was my third win in three races over three different distances! It has been a strong start and I am looking to carry this momentum into the middle part of the season.

I felt good waking up this morning and was ready to put in a good effort and push the pace early. I had a good swim start that I carried throughout the duration of the swim. I had a couple of guys exit with me but I quickly separated myself through T1 and the first out and back section of the bike.

From then on, my lead grew, and I came off the bike with a 2 to 3 min lead. I ran strongly to win by a significant margin over the rest of the field. Overall, it was a fast but controlled race. I had good legs the whole day and paced it all very evenly.
